A Controller and a Stopper Game with Degenerate Variance Control
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider a zero sum, stochastic differential game which involves two players, the controller and the stopper. The stopper selects the stopping rule which halts the game. The controller chooses the diffusion coefficient of the corresponding state process which is allowed to degenerate. At the end of the game, the controller pays the stopper, the amount E ∫ τ 0 eC(Zx(t))dt, where Zx(·) represents the state process with initial position x and α is a positive constant. Here C(·) is a reward function where the set {x : C(x) > 0} is an open interval which contains the origin. Under some assumptions on the reward function C(·) and the drift coefficient of the state process, we show that this game has a value. Furthermore, this value function is Lipschitz continuous, but it fails to be a C function.

On the Multi-Dimensional Controller and Stopper Games
We consider a zero-sum stochastic differential controller-and-stopper game in which the state process is a controlled diffusion evolving in a multi-dimensional Euclidean space. In this game, the controller affects both the drift and the volatility terms of the state process. Under appropriate conditions, we show that the game has a value and the value function is the unique viscosity solution t...
متن کاملMinimizing Probability of Ruin and a Game of Stopping and Control
Abstract: We consider three closely related problems in optimal control: (1) minimizing the probability of lifetime ruin when the rate of consumption is stochastic and when the individual can invest in a Black-Scholes financial market; (2) minimizing the probability of lifetime ruin when the rate of consumption is constant but the individual can invest in two risky correlated assets; and (3) a ...
متن کاملFuzzy gain scheduling of PID controller for stiction compensation in pneumatic control valve
Inherent nonlinearities like, deadband, stiction and hysteresis in control valves degenerate plant performance. Valve stiction standouts as a more widely recognized reason for poor execution in control loops. Measurement of valve stiction is essential to maintain scheduling. For industrial scenarios, loss of execution due to nonlinearity in control valves is an imperative issue that should be t...
متن کاملOn the Robust Optimal Stopping Problem
We study a robust optimal stopping problem with respect to a set P of mutually singular probabilities. This can be interpreted as a zero-sum controller-stopper game in which the stopper is trying to maximize its pay-off while an adverse player wants to minimize this payoff by choosing an evaluation criteria from P . We show that the upper Snell envelope Z of the reward process Y is a supermarti...
متن کاملThe Controller-and-stopper Game for a Linear Diffusion
Consider a process X(·) = {X(t), 0 ≤ t <∞} with values in the interval I = (0, 1), absorption at the boundary-points of I, and dynamics dX(t) = β(t)dt+ σ(t)dW (t), X(0) = x. The values (β(t), σ(t)) are selected by a controller from a subset of <× (0,∞) that depends on the current position X(t), for every t ≥ 0. At any stopping rule τ of his choice, a second player, called stopper, can halt the ...
